Dr. Felix Effenberger

Senior AI Research Advisor | Earth Species Project

Felix is a mathematician and computer scientist by training, turned neuroscientist, turned entrepreneur.

After finishing his PhD in pure mathematics, Felix worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of computational neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, the Ernst Strüngmann Institute for Neuroscience, and the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies for several years.

In 2017, he decided to take on a role as CTO at a San Francisco-based stealth startup to work on augmented reality for live sports.

His research interests are in neuroscience, mathematics, data analysis, and machine learning. In 2022, he started advising the Earth Species Project, a non-profit organization that studies animal communication using machine-learning based methods.

Felix also works as a freelance trainer and is interested in creating open-source software.
